One of your greatest challenges after a mentor training will be to recruit couples to get help. It will require you to be intentional and will require strategic planning.

Follow these four steps to keep your team of mentors active.

1) CREATE A WEB PAGE ON YOUR CHURCH WEBSITE  CALLED 'MARRIAGE MENTORING'

• Creating a marriage mentoring web page giving a brief description of how the marriage mentoring works will help educate couples seeking help and will alleviate many of their fears.

Either link the two mentor request form documents to your webpage for mentees to fill out or create an online auto form asking for the same information.

• Make sure to include a PAY BUTTON giving the mentees easy access to pay the mentoring fee online.

• Creating a web page makes it so much easier to get mentees to register and pay for the service you are offering.

2) RECRUIT MENTEES

• USE SIGN-UP CARDS during a sermon to recruit couples to get mentored. It is the best method to recruit couples as it removes all roadblocks and catches them in the moment of inspiration.

• USE SIGN-UP CARDS at all of your marriage events; banquets, classes, conferences, etc. giving people an opportunity to sign up to get mentored.

• USE SOCIAL MEDIA to promote marriage mentoring with a link to the page on your website for couples to register.

 - Write weekly/monthly marriage related content then post it on your church FACEBOOK, Twitter, Instagram accounts.

-  Keep it short and use pictures.

-  Use articles from our Facebook Page CLICK HERE

• Use ONLINE YELLOW BOOK and pay for an advertising space in the your area promoting marriage mentoring. (Place it in the COUNSELING section) Estimated cost: $100/month.

3) CONTACT MENTEES

• The administrator is to contact all mentees using an email and a link taking them to the registration page on your website.

• If they don't respond to the email, then follow up with a phone call. (We get a better response when a male connects with a male).

SCRIPT To Use When Calling: "Hello _________. I am following up regarding the marriage mentor request card you signed. We are excited for you to get mentored and want to share with you a little bit about the process. You will meet in the home of a mentor couple one night a week for approximately 10 weeks. Each session will last approximately 1 1/2 hours. You and your spouse will be required to take an online survey that will identify all your strengths and weaknesses. The survey is used throughout the mentoring process to help you identify and solve the issues at hand with the help of the mentors. If this is something you can commit to, the first step is to go to our website and register so we can assign an available mentor couple to you as soon as possible.

IF THEY RESIST

If you as the administrator are feeling some resistance from the mentees to pursue the mentoring

here are a few questions you could ask:

"Would you like to meet alone with one of the mentors first?"

"What can we do to help you get started with the process?"

"Is your spouse willing to get mentored also?"

"Come to one session, then decide if it's a good fit".

Only say this to couples that you feel are hesitant to proceed with mentoring.

Otherwise it is important to stress the importance of their commitment to the process).

IT'S JUST COFFEE

Consider asking MENTORS to take MENTEES out to dinner/coffee to meet and greet as a way to build trust.

(for mentees who are not responding)

4) PLACE MENTEES TO MENTORS

• The administrator places the mentees (who filled out the Mentor Request form and paid the fee) with the mentors.

• The administrator is to send an email to ALL MENTORS asking them if they are available to 'take on a couple' to mentor. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. (don't get too picky with matching up couples)
