The Lead Couple's role to shepherd the mentors is crucial to keeping your team of mentors engaged and thriving.

This document will define the role of a Lead Couple and give guidelines to help them shepherd your team of mentors.

  • Shepherd the Mentors

Schedule quarterly gatherings. This will give mentors an opportunity to share their struggles and success stories. This can be a potluck or just a get together to learn from each other and be encouraged by one another. Shepherding the mentors will make them feel empowered and cared for which is crucial for their ongoing involvement. This is also an opportunity to pray for each other. Invite your Pastor to these gatherings so he/she can hear of the miracles that are happening through marriage mentoring.

Reach out to the mentors individually (annually) to inquire about their own marriage. We want to ensure their marriages stay strong and healthy.

  • Communicate Well
Communicate regularly with the administrator. Delays in communication can cause frustration for all parties involved.

  • Online Mentor Support System

If the church has purchased the online Mentor Support System subscription, encourage mentors to access the site regularly. There they will find many resources that can further equip them for mentoring. Over 50 training videos, including the original mentor training, scripture references and many mentoring tools are included and available as ongoing resources for the mentors.

Videos from the Mentor Support System can be used as short 15-minute trainings at the quarterly gatherings.

Seek out opportunities and offer suggestions to the church for ways to continually invest in the marriages in your church; marriage enrichment events, marriage classes, seminars and getaways.

  • Facilitate Mentor Trainings

As people discover the power of marriage mentoring they will want to become part of the mentoring team. As the need arises to train new mentors use the online video to facilitate future trainings or contact us to schedule a live training. It would be helpful for the Facilitators to view the training online prior to the scheduled mentor training to become familiar with the training.
